SOLD Extremely special 1930s art deco hand-cut citron glass jewel ashtray.

  • Very rare find. Awesome.
  • Heinrich Hoffmann was a mould-maker and proprietor of a bead ship in Paris in the 1920s. During this time he met a gentlemen named Rene Lalique (today Lalique's art glass sells at the extreme high-end).  Hoffmann's association with Lalique influenced his work.
  • This beautiful relic is made of solid citron yellow colored glass with an angular flat-plain art deco cutting. It was produced in the late 1920s to mid 1930s.
  • Some of Hoffmann's work is signed with a moulded open-winged butterfly logo.  This piece is hand-cut and does not have a maker's mark.  It is positively identified as a Heinrich Hoffmann.
  • Big and heavy, great for cigars, pipes or cigarettes.  Lovely decor item.
  • Measures 6" x 6" x6" and is 1.75" tall.  Weighs almost 3 lbs.
  • In amazingly good condition for it's age and decor.  The edges and points are thinly beveled which has contributed to it's survival. Normally, a piece like this would have incurred a great deal of "edge chiggering" over the years (small, almost invisible nicks on edges).  This one has a few. So tiny that most are invisible and can only be felt.  I can see ony one visible minute thin chip when examined closely.  There are a few light scratches that would polish out easily if you prefer.  Bottom wear is evident, but not heavy as expected.  This stunner was well taken care of.
