SOLD Lovely old standing floor ashtray from the 1920's.

Floor ashtrays like this were common in fancy lobbies, upscale housing and cocktail lounges of the art nouveau / art deco eras.

This one is in great shape considering its age and use.  It is made with a thick chrome plated metal that has survived the years with only a few small areas of light corrosion.  See image 2 - there is only one corrosion spot that size, the other few spots visible on the exterior are much smaller.  Most not noticeable unless examined closely.  The base has pin-hole size atmoshphere corrosion dots, barely visible, and can probably be polished out.  See image 3.

The awesome, large chestnut amber glass ashtray is in 100% perfect condition. It has four cigar sized rests.  Beautiful, very old glass with straw marks near the base.  It measures 8" wide and weighs 3 lbs. Beneath the glass ashtray are many large corrosion on the metal caused by moisture getting trapped between the glass and the metal.  See image 5.  This part of the stand is not visible when the ashtray is sitting in place.

Decorated with a very special vintage / antique slag glass 2-piece conical shape. The dome sits like a lid on the cone.  Both pieces held in place by the bar running through the center.  The stand screws apart in 6 pieces. The heavy slag glass has a vertical rectangle sliver chip on its base next to the metal. See image 4.  It is a very shallow sliver, just under 1" long, and does not penetrate through the glass. It has not caused any further damage (no cracks) and was caused by too much pressure when "screwing"  the stand together sometime in the past.  It does not detract and has not compromised the integrity of the glass. Fabulous old slag glass done by a talented artist. This type of glass is sometimes called "cloud glass".

The handle has a lovely classic design and is in near perfect condition.  One tiny spot is all we can see.

Big, well-made and sturdy.  Measures 29.75" tall, designed to stand alone.  Heavy, weighs about 10 lbs.
