Fabulous Eames Era Atomic Abalone Art Ashtray

Made in the late 1940s to late 1950s.  Eames Era Atomic styling.

Real abalone shells inlaid in clear resin on a black base. The shells can be seen from the top and the side - 3-D effect.  Very nice.

Sits on three round clear resin feet. In image #3 you can see two white areas near the feet, they are pieces of the abalone extending through and covered with resin.

The black glass 3.5" ashtray is removable.  The resin holder measures 8" long, 5.75 at widest and .75" tall.

Awesome example of vintage modernistic amoebic design.  It's in excellent shape. Tripod feet have expected aged bottom-wear. Beautiful.
