Pipe Tapper Ash Bowl Adorned with Love Birds

SOLD A pair of kissing lovebirds adorn the rim of the pipe tapper, tobacco receiver.

This ashtray was made specifically for pipes.  The dome you see rising from the base is a "tapper", for emptying the pipe bowl.  The clear glass applied knob is not a cigarette rest, it is a pipe stem rest.

This lovely glass ashtray is handblown with pontil mark (image 4).  The clear and colored cased glass birds were blown separately and then applied to the bowl.

This art glass bowl doubles as a catch-all or flower vase when not in pipe service.

Origin unknown. The seat of the base has some bottom-wear, indicating old age.  It is in excellent condition.

Measures 5.5" at widest, 4.5" at tallest with a girth of 16".
