Giant Smoking Pipe Ashtray Redware

SOLD  Big life-like smoking pipe ash receiver.

This neat old ashtray was made from redware, a dark red fired clay.

Dark cocoa brown glaze with tobacco tan lip piece.

Deep enough to hold the mess in, or to rest a pipe, or to use as a stash holder.

In great condition. There are two "glazed over" stress lines on the rim. Lines were present before final firing.  Does not affect the integrity.  Inner rim is a bit rought to the touch, caused by pipe-tapping. Looking very closely at glaze, can see fine crazing - a sign of age.  The area between the lip piece and the pipe was painted gold to resemble metal, the after-fire gold application has worn 50%.  Still in useable, fine shape.  Must look closely to see flaws.
