SOLD  Old world charm from one of the oldest seaside villas in Sestri Levante

Vintage porcelain ashtray from the Grand Hotel Villa Balbi in Sestri Levante, Italy.
From the 1940s-1950s, marked by Italian maker "Maracr Rep. S. Marino -V-"

The Balbi was built in the early 17th century for the Brignole doges of Genoa.  In 1947 the palazzo morphed into a grand seaside pleasure dome hotel villa.  This ashtray once belonged in the hotel.

Small table-top ashtray, perfect for that little smoke.  Measures 4.5" wide.
Decor is known as Majolica.  Beautiful ring of flowers encircle the Brignole family coat of arms. The decor is still bright and beautiful.
Has eight tiny, thin nicks around the edges, two hairline glaze cracks (on glaze only, did not penetrate porcelain), some very light crazing and heavy bottom-wear.  This old relic has seen much use. It remains sturdy and useable.
