SOLD Stunning Viking Art Glass cigar ashtray in heavy vintage smoked cobalt blue crackle glass.

This awesome cigar bowl was made in the 1960s-1970s by Viking Art Glass

The color of this ashtray is exceptional and rare.  It is a dark smoked cobalt blue. Very unusual and not shown in old Viking catalogs. It was probably an "experimental color" with a very short production.  During the late 1950s and through the 1960s, smoked glass  (any color glass with an ash greyish tint) was very popular.  Swedish glass makers were among the first to provide it during that era, and anything Swedish was A.O.K. in America.  We called the popular decorating craze "Swedish Modern".

This was hand-formed, then dipped in cool water to achieve the fine crackle (image 3).  It has a polished bottom-rim (see image 2), showing bottom-wear as it should.
Big - Measures 7.5" wide and 2.75" tall, weighs 3 lbs.  The rests are fat and made for cigars, but great for cigs or incense.  Retro Swedish-Modern styling.  Lovely centerpiece item, great candleholder.

Images #5, #6 & #7 are of additional ashtrays like this, from the same maker and era, in different colors and available separately.   By clicking on image #5, #6 or #7 you can see the catalog pages.

The large Macanudo cigar in image #5 is 6.5" long and .75" wide, shown to help illustrate ample size of this ashtray.
This ashtray form is exceptional for cigar aficionados.  The rests are wide and flat, the size is large but not too large, and it is deep enough for efficient and tidy cigar service. It's also a fabulous eye-catcher.
