Hutton Settlement Commemorative Ashtray

Turn of the century orphanage founded by the late L.W Hutton

According to reference materials: "In late November, 1919, the first orphans arrive at the Hutton Settlement, Spokane’s new children’s home built and endowed by mining millionaire Levi W. Hutton (1860-1928). The opening of the home is the fulfillment of a dream of a man who himself was an orphan, raised by uncaring relatives. Hutton designed and will manage his orphanage along the most enlightened principles of the time, with a goal of providing a happy, healthy environment in which orphaned and needy children can grow up".  The settlement still exists, still offering care for children, in Spokane WA.

This large porcelain ashtray has 12 rests.  Transfer decor of the settlement is in burgundy shades. Measures 7.25" square, 1" tall.  Weighs 2 lbs.

In excellent condition. There are a few burgundy spots found at the edge of  3 rests, shown in image  , which are original maker's misses.

Signed on reverse "Alan Randal Co., Inc., Appreciation Advertising, Studio City California.  Circa 1940s-1950s.
