Fine Dark Golden Honey Glass Ashtray

SOLD Quality dark amber glass ashtray.

This beautiful ashtray is hand-made of thick deep, dark golden glass.  It was slumped into a pitted mold, then heat finished to complete the folded-in rim and rest.

The slumping mold produced indented circles on the base that cause a glittering effect. The pattern starts on the outer base and runs up half-way to the rim.

The base is polished flat. Medium bottom-wear.  Quality glass, but has a concentration of very tiny air bubbles near the rest.  Trapped air bubbles are a result of hand-working glass, and old cooling methods. There are two small impact marks embedded within the glass that were caused by bumping. These marks are inside the glass, they have not breached the surface, there are no chips or chiggers.

Age and maker unknown.  This is not machined glass, it is not new. Probably made in the early to mid 20th century.  From a fine maker, perhaps Baccarat (French) or Scandinavian.

Medium sized tray measures 5" wide and almost 2" tall.  Thick glass, weighs 1.5 lbs.
