SOLD Ashtray art from one of the finest.

From 1963 Bertil Vallien was a freelance designer for the glassworks Boda-Åfors and Kosta-Boda, working form his own studio in Åfors, Sweden.  This object of ashtray art was made in the 1960s.
Mr. Vallien is one of the founding fathers of the mid 20th century studio glass movement.  His achievements are documented.  Today, he teaches young glass artists at the Pilchuck School in Oregon along with Dale Chihuly and other notable maestros.
Made with 2.75 lbs of solid chunk crystal.  Items resembling ice were a staple of the Swedish glass artists of the time...and still are today.  It was probably made with a wood mold and hand-finished with heat polishing. The top surface has a light texture.
Hand-etched on the base; "Boda Afors BV 2023 B. Vallien".  The signature is followed by an open armed stick man enclosed in a circle.
In excellent condition with some bottom-wear (tiny scratches on the seat caused by years of surface contact), very light.  Measures 4" square and 2" tall, Weighs 2.75 lbs.  Four wide rests and deep bowl, perfect for cigars.
