Well-preserved set of 1950s retro ashtrays.
Made of 'redware' and glazed in glossy diner orange with mottled turqouise green. Hand-made with 3 tick marks on the bases. Maker's mark reads '3499 USA'.
One has a smooth area of missing glaze on the base (see image 3). It doesn't look like a chip, it looks as though it is a 'miss' left by the maker. This is the area where the 'redware' pottery shows through the glaze. Otherwise we would not have known it was redware.
Glossy glaze is in great condition with some age crazing if you study closely. Shiny, clean and beautiful. No chips or cracks.
Each measure 5½" at widest and just over an inch deep. Decorative ridges provide a rest for any size smoke imaginable.
