Five pounds of luscious hand-made vintage art glass from the 1950s/1960s.
Slumped into an optic rib mold, then finished by hand. The fabulous color looks like orange jello with a darker orange ring at the top. The colored layer is surrounded by clear crystal. Beautiful undulating light refractions make it appear to glow. Really nice glass.
Made in the 'Swedish Modern' style, all the rage of the 1950s. The style is admired for it's smooth, natural lines and shapes conforming with nature introduced from the Scandinavian countries. The fashionable decor style was emulated by glass makers from all over the world. In the U.S., a company called 'Tiffin' glass produced exceptional Swedish Modern decor glass. This unsigned piece of glass art could have been made by Tiffin, as their color 'persimmon' looked just like this and the form is compatible. The quality, color and form also match that of the better Scandinavian or Italian glass houses of the time. Whoever made it approximately 60 years ago, made it well.
Three big, slightly slanted rests will accomodate the largest of cigars to the smallest of smokes. The ash bowl is deep, catches the mess and keeps it where it belongs. Heavy ashtray can't easily get bumped off it surface. Makes a decorative candle-holder, flower bowl or catch-all when not in ash service
