Jose de Guimaraes (b.1939)

Began traveling the world in the early 1960s and progressed his art through culture appreciation, inspired by late great artists such as Klee, Kandinsky, the Bauhaus painters of Die Brücke, and especially with the Flemish painter, seventeenth century, Rubens.  Today he is know world-wide for his own art. He is honored for his remarkable work, particularly in the painting, but also made forays into sculpture and other creative activities on the aesthetic level, both national and internationally.  Color plays a key role in his work and main theme is the human body.  One of the most award-winning aestheticians Portuguese, José de Guimarães is represented in museums and public collections all over the world.
