Modern Art crystal ashtray by Dominic Pangborn for Ritzenhoff of Germany.

Four rests will accomodate small cigars, cigs, small smokes. The Ritzenhoff Smoking collection features two ashtray sizes, this is the smaller size.

Dominic Pangborn: See full size imageBorn in war-torn Korea in 1952 as Jung Sung Hun, the son of an American GI and a Korean woman. Seeking greater opportunities, he moved to the United States when he was just 10 years old and was adopted by the Pangborn family of Illinois.

Graduating from the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts  in 1975, Pangborn began his career in a Chicago design studio. Later he and his new wife Delia moved to Detroit.

Pangborn's design work for Ford Motor Co.'s 75th anniversary in 1978 solidified his graphic arts reputation and enabled him to create his own company Pangborn Design Ltd. in 1979.  Pangborn Design went on to provided graphic arts for companies like Comerica, Audi of America, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, Marriott International, Wolverine World Wide and General Motors.

Pangborn entered the fashion and home decor market in 1994, expanding the scope of his enterprise. His well-known neck tie designs were offered by the finest department stores.  Today, he operates retail stores in the Renaissance Center and at Detroit Metropolitan Airport as well as the Caribbean island of St. Thomas.  In 2005, Ritzenhoff of Germany commissioned Pangborn to design art for glassware and porcelain objects.  His artwork is accompanied by the "D. Pangborn" mark.
