         Higgin's Barbaric Jewels Single Rest Ashtray

  • Higgin's glass objects are hot collector items today.  Higgins was well-known among the 'fab' in the late 1950s to early 1960s. 
  • The gold signature indicates it is a piece made at Dearborn Glass in Bedford Park, IL between 1957-1964. Michael Higgins died in 1999, Frances Higgins in 2004. Higgins made most of their art glass with the "bent glass" technique. 
  • This ashtray is made of a thick solid sheet of clear glass that was pressed over a mold and "bent" into shape. The colored jewel decor real gold paint was hand applied on the surface.   It is signed in gold "Higgins".
  • Measures 5" wide, 6" long and 1" tall.  Has a single rest that fits all sizes of smokes.
