Glidden Pottery Eames Era Stoneware Ashtray

Stylish mid-20th Century hand-made stoneware by Glidden. Glidden Pottery produced artware from 1940 to 1957. Today Glidden's art pottery is highly collectible.  All were individually glazed and decorated. Most pieces were  marked. We found a good article from 'The Schein-Joseph International Museum of Ceramic Arts' about Glidden.  Click here to view. This superb example of Glidden design is in like-new condition.  Beautiful as the day it was made.  The glaze is soft to the touch, satin-like.  The decor was hand-applied.  Large enough to accomodate guests with six rests and a deep bowl.  Measures 7½" square and 1.25" deep.  Marked on the base 'Glidden 273' with a upside down diamond mark.
