Late 1950s Blenko Signed Ashtray Bowl

Big colorless glass trapped bubble ash bowl with the late 1950s Blenko mark on the seat (see image above). Read more about Blenko Art Glass.  The condition of this special ashtray is marred by a very heavy solid ring of bottom-wear.  Bottom-wear is caused by years and years of surface contact and is more visible on clear glass than colored.  Bottom-wear intensity is quickened when the object is heavy.   This 7" round, 2½" tall ashtray weighs 4.25 lbs.  Very heavy for it's size.  Normally, bottom-wear is not considered damage on vintage and antique items because it occurs naturally, but in colorless glass heavy bottom-wear can be seen from the surface.  In addition there is a small shallow bump on one side which is hard to see but can be felt. Hand-made in 1958 or 1959 (this Blenko marked was used for only two years).  Decorated with internally trapped air bubbles.  Great deal on this rare ashtray due to the heavy bottom-wear and side bump!
