Vulcher Watching Medieval Men Smoking Long Pipe

SOLD Antique hand-forged brass ashtray featuring a vulcher-like bird hovering over two men in the process of lighting and smoking a very long pipe.  This old metal ashtray has no mark as to it's country of origin. This means it dates to before WWII at least.  It was probably made in the early 20th century, could be older.  Has three long, fat and level rests, large enough for cigars.  Weighs just over 1 lb.  Measures 7" long and 5" wide. In good condition with heavy natural, and unnatural, patina.  This ashtray has been cleaned thoroughly, yet still signs of dark tar can be seen.  It has bonded with the metal and cannot be removed without stripping all of the natural patina.  We never use brass cleaning chemical as it usually does more harm than good.  The darker areas will not come out without stripping the top layer.  We guarantee it is not dirt and will not rub off.  The natural aged patina is a soft golden glow on the once bright brass.
