Description
Deep greens and ambers in hand-formed sommerso glass is a classic Seguso combination. The Seguso family have been in the glassmaking business on the isle of Murano in Italy since May 3, 1397.
Many great artists worked under the Seguso family banner. We believe this is a Flavio Poli design for Seguso. Circa early 1960s.
Thick, luscious vintage glass glows warmly in the lighting. Great color combination.
Hand-formed with two layers of glass. Measures 6¾” x 6″, 2″ tall. Weighs 2 lbs.
In good condition with heavy bottom-wear on the polished flat base. Bottom-wear (tiny scratches on the base of glass objects) occurs from surface contact over many, many years. There are black specs within the glass. This occurs when the maker uses a real furnace, fired by wood or coal, to heat the glass. Small specs of ash attach to the glass pull and embed within the glass. Commonly found in hand-made glass of the past when furnaces were used. No chips, cracks or calcium staining.
