Set of Higgins Barbaric Jeweled Ashtrays

1960s eclectic modernist art ashtray set of three by Higgins.

The gold Higgins signature dates these fabulous mod ashtrays to between 1957-1964. Michael Higgins died in 1999, Frances Higgins in 2004. Higgins was popular among the mod Beatnik crowd and is still popular today.

All three ashtrays will accommodate cigars with wide rests. Largest measures 9.25″ x 5″ x 7.5' x 7.25″, 1.25″ deep. Smaller asthrays are 4″ square, .75″ deep. Made of smoke black thick bent glass with real gold decor and applied glass jewels.

The large ashtray's signature ran together on the g's during it's creation ( see image 8). Two small ashtrays are also signed.
