Set of hand-made ‘Bull Bowls’ from the late 1950s thru mid 1960s.
Designed by Erik Hoglund for Boda Glassworks in Sweden. This bowl design was made with many different figural impressions. This set features the ‘bull’ decor. Smaller dish has a forward looking steer head, larger has a full side-view. The bull figurines are raised from the surface with a 3-D effect.
Multi-use. Candleholder, incense burner, caviar, sauces, catch-all, paperweight, paperclips, paraphernalia, ashtrays, etc. Also beautiful as decor, especially when placed near light.
Hard to find. The large measures 4.25″ round and 1″ deep, weighs 1.5 lbs. Smaller measures 3½” round and 1″ deep, weighs 1 lb.

Biography Erik Höglund (1932-1998)
Born in Karlskrona Sweden. He evolved into a Sculptor, Draughtsman and Graphic Artist with glass as his favorite medium. Between 1953 through 1973 he collaborated with Boda Glasswork where he revolutionized the art of glass in Sweden. During his 50 years as an active artist he also created over 150 commissioned public works in Sweden and abroad in a variety of materials (glass, wrought iron and bronze).
After a brief break from working with glass, he returned to the medium in the late 70’s. A collaboration with Pukeberg Glasswork was initiated in 1979 followed by, Pilchuck Glass School (USA), Transhyttan Glasswork, Ahus and Vrigstad Glasswork. In the late ’80s Eric worked with Studioglas Stromshyttan which lasted until his death in 1998.
