Stunningly beautiful, yet manly, hand blown ashtray bowl.
High quality emerald green glass hand blown with trapped stylized bubbles. Big, thick walled, deep and heavy. Won’t get bumped around. Deep bowl with inward rim keeps the mess within where it belongs. Big, fat, wide rests accommodate all sizes of smokes and are just right for cigars. A perfect ashtray.
This form was popular in the late 1940s through to the late 1970s. Blenko Art Glass made ashtrays that look like this one, and it might be early Blenko, but the quality of the glass and decor points to either Murano (Italian) or English (Whitefriars). Unsure of the maker, but certain this was made by a skilled glass artist. The controlled bubbles trapped within the glass form a semi-spiral. All made by hand.
