Rich brown Depression glass ashtray with waffle base.
This is a beautiful old dark amber ashtray was originally designed for use in a standing ashtray. It functions just as well without the standing apparatus.
If you are looking for a standing ashtray insert, the correct measurements are very important as most stands require a particular size and they all vary. This ashtray measures 6″ round. It’s base ring measures 4″ round. It is 1 3/8″ tall. The side walls taper up from 4″ to 6″.
Perfectly functional as a tabletop ashtray. Features 4 wide and flat rests to fit cigars and smaller smokes. It is raised from the surface by the 4″ seat ring. Waffle pattern is impressed on the seat. Weighs 1½ lbs.
It is very old, dates back to the 1940s or earlier. Nice solid band of bottom wear encircling the seat ring. This occurs from years of contact with a surface, is an indicator of old age, and not considered damage. There are a couple of trapped bubbles within the glass, also normal in Depression era glass.
