Mid-20th Century Venetian art glass ashtray with original sticker.
Vintage Venetian art glass ashtray bowl cased in emerald and colorless crystal with layers silver foil veil sandwiched between. Looks like an exotic jewel.
Made in 1950’s Italy in Venetian style on the Isle of Murano. In image 5, An ashtray exactly like this one is shown with the original maker’s label which reads: Hand made Genuine Venetian Glass Made in Murano Italy Vetro Artistico Veneziano. Vetro Artistico Veneziano means Artistic Venetian Glass in Italian. This ashtray does not have it’s original label attached.
This Venetian art glass beauty measures 5″ wide and 2.5″ tall, weighs 1.5 lbs. Medium size. Can accommodate small cigars to small smokes. Can rest pipes. Features 6 stylized rests; 3 lower large tilt rests and 3 upper float rests. Hand-made of emerald green glass encased in colorless glass. Sandwiched between are thick veils of silver aventurine.
Nice as an incense burner or candle holder too. Note: when burning modern candles in vintage glass, be sure to remove the metal wick tacks from the base of the candle first. Metal can get too hot and damage the glass, but melting wax is not harmful.
This luxurious free-flowing jewel-like glass internally decorated with real silver was formed by hand and mouth by an Italian glassblower of great skill.
