Description
This vintage devil brass ashtray portrays the demon Beelzebub, Lord of the Flies.
His chilling facial expression is highly detailed. Made of hand-cast heavy brass. Hand-applied shading, also referred to as ‘added patina’, is part of the decor. Large enough for a long fat cigar. Accommodates cigarettes, smaller smokes, incense and candles too.
Measures 5.5″ long, 4″ wide, 2.5″ tall and weighs 1 lb. The shaded areas, resembling light copper corrosion, were added by the artist for decorative effect. The un-decorated brass has a soft glowing natural aged patina. Signed on the base in Greek letters. We do not know what it translates to. Made in Greece, circa 1930’s to 1950’s.
