Description
Mysterious and alluring hand-made glass art ashtray with opalescent and metallic decor.
Made with high quality glass and exceptional artistry. The white opalescent glass mixed with inclusions of metallic and green colors, then fumed to finish with a sheen. This type of art glass is not made today. We suspect this treasure was made during the Arts and Crafts period, a short decorative era between Victorian and Art Deco (1910 – 1920). BUT there is no signature or maker’s mark so it’s hard to confirm an actual age. It may of been made by the mid-century modernist’s studio glass revival in the 1950’s to 1960’s. Probably made in Italy, the USA, or England. At least 50 years old.
Made completely by hand. The artist used a tool to create the waves and cradle rests. The base was polished smooth. There is light bottom-wear on the base. Measures 6″ long, 4.25″ wide, 1.5″ tall and weighs 1 lb. Two .1/2″ deep, 1/2″ wide, 1″ long cradle rests can accommodate small cigars, smaller smokes, and incense sticks.
