Mid-Century art glass ball Ashtray in jewel-like ruby red.
Designed and made in the mid-20th century by Viking Art Glass, USA. Beautiful, thick, deep ruby red glass. Scarce in this color and condition.
Largest ball ashtray in the Viking Art Glass line. Circa late 1950’s through 1960’s. Shown in old Viking Art Glass catalogs as part no. 6827.
The orb measures 6″ wide, 8″ deep and 5″ at tallest. Made of thick-walled quality vintage glass. Weighs 4 lbs. Cigar shown is a 5½” long fatty.
Sports 3 rests, two for smaller size smokes and one large rest in the center for cigars. Also works well as a pipe rest. Beautiful stuffed with flowers when not in ash service. Functional as a catch-all too. Rims slant inward over deep well, helps keep the debris contained.
Very hard to find. In excellent condition.
