Big beautiful art glass cigar ashtray circa 1965
Mid-century art glass cigar ashtray in light chestnut brown. The Blenko bubble ashtray is shown in old Blenko catalogs as part no. 508. The part number indicates the form was designed in the early 1950’s before Blenko’s part number dating system. The chestnut color was only produced in 1965. Design created in 1953 by one of Blenko Art Glass’ early designers, Wayne Husted.
Beautiful thick, well-made vintage glass with controlled trapped air bubble decor. Warm brown and colorless cased glass goes well with most color schemes. Hand-blown with soft pontil mark on the seat.
Rare chestnut color big Blenko bubble ashtray measures 8″ round, 3″ tall and weighs a whopping 4.10 lbs. Cigar shown is 7″ long. Three hand-formed rests hold your smoke well above the deep and ample bowl. In very goo condition with no chips, no stains. Heavy bottom-wear on seat caused by many years of surface contact. Irregular bubbles.
