Party Ashtray Set & Box Elegant Vintage Glass Box in Canterbury Pattern
This party ashtray set was made in the 1940’s to 1950’s by Duncan Glass, an elegant glass maker of the past in the United States. Consists of 6 personal size ashtrays and a covered box for cigs, herb, or paraphernalia. Sets like these were often referred to as “Bridge Sets” after a popular card game of the era.
Duncan was well-known for its great quality glassware for the home. The glass is thick, brilliant and has a wonderful velvety smooth feel.
Manganese was used in place of lead in the crystal recipe. This is evident in the image showing the glowing green reflection under black-light. Lead was quite expensive during and post WWII and many glass makers used the mineral as a cheaper alternative, while maintaining the crystal clear reflective beauty.
Perfect set to have around for your next smokin’ party!
All in excellent condition. Lidded box measures 5″ x 4″. Ashtrays are 3.5″ x 2.75″. Ashtrays are sized to fit in palm of hand, great for cocktail parties.
