Description
Blenko lava ashtray in black amethyst with original label still attached.
Organic textures and themes were very popular during the Mid-20th Century, originating from the Scandinavian countries where famous artists reflected nature in their designs.
Blenko Art Glass, one of the Fab Five glass studios in Mid-20th Century U.S.A., made their glass objects by hand. Beautiful dark hand-mixed amethyst glass was poured into a clay or wood mold in the form of the lava base. The surface was hand-polished and the long rests were made with hand-tool.
Deep black amethyst color looks solid black unless held to the light when the luxurious purple amethyst illuminates. This ashtray is in excellent condition, like new.
