Ruby ashtray big bubble made by Blenko Art Glass circa 1950’s.
Early unsigned Blenko bubble ashtray in deep ruby red. Decorated with internal bubbles.
Three tool formed rests accommodate all size smokes and hold them well above the ash surface. Works for pipe resting too. Makes a beautiful glowing ruby orb with a candle inside (always remove metal parts on modern candles before burning in vintage glass).
Big red bubble ashtray weighs 3 lbs. Measures 6″ round and 3″ tall. Blenko catalogs list this form of ashtray as number 508, first designed by Bill Blenko himself. Since the majority of Blenko’s glass products were made entirely by hand, sizes range. The 508 ashtray is listed in Blenko catalogs as measuring 6½” wide. The same weight of glass was used, but this ashtray was not widened the extra ½”. It is a bit taller and the glass walls are thicker.

In great condition, no damage to the glass. Heavy bottom wear on the polished flat ring base surrounding the pontil mark caused by many years of surface contact cannot be seen unless turned upside down and inspected. Bottom-wear is expected on antique and vintage glass and is not considered damage.
