Description
Heavy metal sculpture ashtray Mid-20th Modern Ben Seibel style.
Functional, sturdy and stylish retro modern thick metal ashtray. Smoking debris slides into the deep curved bowl well above the smoke rest level. Five rests for cigs and smaller smokes. The hoop serves as a handle, but is designed to hold the stem of a pipe while resting the pipe bowl on the inner ashtray surface.
Very similar to the iconic heavy metal sculpture designs by Ben Seibel for Jenfred Ware, Raymor. The cast metal is finished with a textured bowl and smooth polished outer surface decor in brass. The base was originally covered with felt. The felt covering has deteriorate over the years and was removed.
Weighs 2½ pounds, 6″ long, with a 2″ deep bowl. In very good condition with slight atmosphere erosion (darkening) of the brass finish as seen on the upper handle/pipe holder and the opposite rim. Circa 1950’s to 1960’s.
