Description
Ashtray trench art metal hand-made by soldier or hobo.
Old ashtray made from metal parts. Ashtrays like this were made by our military while they waited out the enemy. Made from pieces of metal laying about the trench, etc.
This could also be a Hobo ashtray, made from metal laying about near the railroad tracks. Usually ashtrays like this were made by military men, but Hobo’s made them too.
It is in like-new (lol) condition. This type of ashtray artifact never looked new because they were made with junk metal. Fully functional rests were applied with heat to the bent ash receiver bowl.
Probably dates from the 1920’s to 1940’s. Measures
