Top quality retro vintage glass ashtray with stylized center rest bar
At first glance one familiar with mid-century glass would assume this party ashtray is a Viking Art Glass pattern. A line of Viking ashtrays with the same center bar and vertical ribbed sides is well known to collectors. We’ve included an image of a blue Viking ashtray next to this large beautiful amber ashtray. Notice the difference in the vertical ribs? This amber ashtray has many more ribs, they are slimmer, and have a more pronounced dome. We suggest this big beauty may have been made by New Martinsville Glass, predecessor of Viking Art Glass. That would date it to the early 1940’s. Learn more by clicking info link below.
The glass is of very high quality, color and clarity. The amber literally glows with light reflections. The swerved center bar has large V rests for cigs and smaller. Combined with the thick outer ledge, the center bar balances any size cigar. Beautiful centerpiece party ashtray can accommodate a smoking crowd, or just sit there and look beautiful as a catch-all, candle holder, etc.
In wonderful shape with the only signs of age on the base with light bottom-wear. Heavy, thick walled glass weighs 3 lbs. Measures 8.25″ round, 1.75″ tall.
