Ghostly owl ashtray by Blenko Art Glass weighs over 5 lbs!
Huge vintage art glass ashtray by Blenko Art Glass. Shown in 1970’s Blenko catalogs as part no. 702.
Measures 9.75″ round, 1.5″ tall and sits on 3 ball feet. Blown into a mold, then hand tooled. No mold lines.
The retro design owl image is deeply impressed on the seat of the ashtray. The ash surface is smooth with some slight hills and valleys around the eyes and beak which are advantageous for rolling off ash, snuffing and tapping.
Hand-made at the Blenko Art Glass studio (West Virginia, USA) in the 1970’s. Heavy ashtray is perfect for parties. Large enough for the whole crowd and five pounds of glass can’t get knocked around!
The three ball feet on the seat keep this ashtray slightly above the surface. Useful for two reasons: prevents scratching of the surfaces and keeps the ashtray from sitting in water if used outside.
Three long smoke rests and a wide ledge provide resting for any type of smoke. It’s so large a candle could be placed in the center with plenty of room left for smoking debris, incense and paraphernalia.
