Complete set of modernist decor Viking Art Glass cigar ashtrays in smoked moss.
Rarely seen as a complete set, especially in this smoked moss color. Looks dark grey from a distance, but as you admire it you’ll see the dark earthy moss green tint. Made in Viking’s ‘Three Foil’ line following the tripod form so popular in the mid-20th century. Shown in Viking Art Glass catalog 1962, part no. 1100, 1101 & 1102.
The nesting set of 3 includes one huge ashtray measuring 10″ long per side, 3″ tall and weighing in at nearly 5 lbs. The next size is 6″ long on each side, 2.5″ tall, weighs 2 lbs. The smallest ashtray is 3.5″ long on each side, two inches tall, weighs just under 1 lb.
Hand formed glass, no seams. Thick, beautiful, transparent smoke green quality vintage glass. Great style – Impressive ashtrays. Perfect for the modernist decor style. All are in near perfect condition. Some light scratching can be seen when held to the light. The large ashtray has 1 tiny bump mark on the edge. The bottom-wear (caused by years of surface contact) is confined to the portion beneath the rests and does not show through the glass at the surface. The glass is clean and brilliant.
The large ashtray is perfect for the patio. It’s so heavy, can’t be pushed around, and has a deep well to keep the debris out of the wind. The 6″ ashtray is a good size for the game table or bar, and the small ashtray can easily travel in the palm of hand. The large level cradle rests support any size smoke and hold it well above the surface of the bowl.
