Beautiful vintage art glass ashtray hand made in Italy.
1950’s art glass ashtray in the clam shell form. Cased glass with internal murrine cane and silver metallic decor. The inner casing is very dark red, appearing black. Outer casing is colorless glass. Trapped within the black and colorless glass is the cane and silver decor. This popular decor style was made by many famous Italian glass makers like Toso, Ferro, Dino Martin, Seguso and more. We’ve handled an ashtray just like this, with varying cane and silver decor, with the Dino Martin for Avem label.
Measures 5.5″ long, 5″ wide and 2.25″ tall. Single rest floats cigars or smaller over deep bowl. In original condition with no chips or cracks. Has one shallow burst air bubble on the center bowl surface which occurred during its creation.
Looks gorgeous on the side table. Doubles as a catch-all, candle holder, etc. when not in ash service.
