Description
Superb modernist luxury crystal cigar ashtray design part of the “Studio Linie” produced in the 1970’s by Rosenthal of Germany.
Rosenthal collaborated with many famous designers of the mid-20th century modernist pop culture. Specializing in pottery and porcelain, Rosenthal also offered glass complimentary pieces created by the likes of Timo Sarpaneva, Bjorn Wiinblad, Tapio Wirkkala, and many more.
Vintage mid-century modernist design made during the height of the pop art craze. We’re betting on Tapio Wirkkala as the designer of this awesome ashtray. Unable to find another like it, or reference to the pattern during our research. This places it on our ‘rare item’ list.
Highly functional design features three level 1½” deep cradle rests measuring 1¼” wide at the rim and tapering down to ¾” wide at the bowl. Allows for any size smoke to rest well above the ash surface. Accommodates pipes too.
The ice-like pattern resembles Tapio Wirkkala style. Mesmerizing design with deep pattern creates a multi-ridge rim useful for incense or other paraphernalia.
Measures 5½” round, 2½” tall, weighs 2¼ lbs. In excellent condition.
