Retro modern glass free-form amoeba shaped dish hand-made in the 1960’s by Blenko Art Glass. Perfect as a smoking accessory with wide ledges for resting smokes or incense. Grooves and knobs accommodate pipes too.
This is an awesome amoeboid form. An amoeba is a cell with irregular shape. The form was very popular among the Peace and Love crowd of the 1960’s (aka Hippies).
Thick, heavy vintage glass contains small trapped air bubbles, expected in Blenko glass. Weighs 2 lbs, measures 8″ long, 7″ at widest.
Great party ashtray. Looks great by the pool. Protruding knobs act as pipe knockers (use wood pipes only to preserve glass). Makes an awesome candle holder, incense burner, catch-all, etc. when not in ash service. Blenko’s part no 966, documented from the 1960’s.
