Mesmerizing art glass cased in canary yellow and colorless crystal with layers of fine gold and silver veil sandwiched between.
Measures 5.25″ round, 2″ tall, weighs 1.6 lbs. Medium size. Accommodates cigars to small smokes with six stylized cradle rests. Nice as an incense burner or candleholder too. Note: when burning modern candles in vintage glass, be sure to remove the metal wick tacks from the base of the candle first. Metal can get too hot and damage the glass, but melting wax is not harmful.
Made in the 1950s when Sophia Loren made the rich beauty of Venetian/Italian styles so popular in the U.S. Actual artist is unknown as this is not signed, but it does have its original worn label which reads “Genuine Venetian Glass Handmade in Murano”. The sticker dates to the 1950s. Certainly came from one of the better glass houses like Salviati or Barbini.
