Vintage Murano Venetian art glass cigar bowl cased in turquoise and colorless crystal with layers silver and gold foil veil sandwiched between. Looks like an exotic jewel.
This Venetian turquoise art glass beauty measures 5″ square and 2.5″ tall, weighs 1.6 lb. Medium size. Accommodates cigars to small smokes. Nice as an incense burner or candle holder too. Note: when burning modern candles in vintage glass, be sure to remove the metal wick tacks from the base of the candle first. Metal can get too hot and damage the glass, but melting wax is not harmful.
Features 6 stylized rests; 3 lower large tilt rests and 3 upper float rests. Made of Cranberry colored glass, real gold used in the recipe to create the color. Out layer is colorless glass. Sandwiched between are thick veils of silver and gold aventurine.
Made in the 1950’s when Sophia Loren made the rich beauty of Venetian/Italian styles so popular in the U.S. Original sticker would read: Genuine Venetian Glass, Handmade, Made in Murano Italy. Sticker commonly attributed to Seguso. This Venetian turquoise art glass ashtray does not have a sticker. Other similiar Venetian glass ashtrays shown are available separately.
